ExtrArtis accompanies the selected artists to discover the Artist Residency territory, leading them to those places that can contribute inspirations and materials to artistic research.
Enea Toldo and Marta Luna Valpiana collected different species of vegetation typical of the area in order to use them in the production of their artworks.
ExtrArtis created a dialogue and exchange between the Selected Artists @robert_hromec and @davideserpetti and the local community, fostering the involvement of collective identity in their creative process. This took place through the organisation of the workshop “Participatory approaches: experiments in community involvement aimed at enhancing the common cultural identity”, which yielded results of scientific as well as socio-cultural value. ExtrArtis, in fact, entrusted the conduction of the participatory activities to Arch. PhD Francesca Nocca @francesca_nocca, Researcher at the Department of Architecture of the University of Naples Federico II @uninait, and Arch. PhD Martina Bosone @martbos, Researcher Fellow at the Research Institute on Innovation and Development Services of the National Research Council (CNR – IRISS).ExtrArtis accompagna gli artisti selezionati alla scoperta del territorio delle Residenze d’Artista, conducendoli in quei luoghi che possono apportare ispirazioni e materiali alla ricerca artistica. ExtrArtis enables the selected artists to meet figures from the contemporary art world through studio visits specially organized during the period of artistic production in Residency. On the one hand, this allows them to express their research at a time of maximum creative expression; on the other hand, it increases the knowledge and network of dissemination of their talent.
In the beautiful landscaped setting of the ExtrArtis park, artists Enea Toldo and Marta Luna Valpiana met Cristina Ruberto, organizer of the Rea Fair international contemporary art exhibition, and Alberto Villa, journalist for Artribune, and art collectors Matteo Acampora, Diana Sanchez and Davide Rocco.
ExtrArtis permette agli artisti selezionati di incontrare personaggi del mondo dell’arte contemporanea attraverso studio visit appositamente organizzati durante il periodo di produzione artistica in Residenza. Ciò permette loro, da un lato, di esprimere la propria ricerca in un momento di massima espressione creativa; dall’altro aumenta la conoscenza e la rete di diffusione del proprio talento.

ExtrArtis offers selected artists workshop studios in which everyone has their own creative space. Nevertheless, it can be understood that artists prefer to have the beautiful setting of the centuries-old park of the project mansion as their studio. This is the case of Enea Toldo and Marta Luna Valpiano who, working with soils, sands, plants, and flowers, requested that the park be transformed into their studio en plein air.
ExtrArtis offre laboratori-laboratorio per artisti selezionati in cui ognuno ha il proprio spazio creativo. Tuttavia è comprensibile che gli artisti preferiscano avere come studio la splendida cornice del parco secolare della villa del progetto. È il caso di Enea Toldo e Marta Luna Valpiano che, lavorando con terre, sabbie, piante e fiori, hanno chiesto che il parco fosse trasformato nel loro studio en plein air.
ExtrArtis accompanies artists to discover the archaeological heritage of the area that is immersed in the naturalistic beauty of the site. Discovering the genius loci allows the artist to increase his or her cultural background as he or she traverses the Villa of Pollio Felice on the promontory of Punta Capo in Sorrento, along the coast of the Punta Campanella Marine Protected Area.
ExtrArtis accompagna gli artisti alla scoperta del patrimonio archeologico del territorio immerso nella bellezza naturalistica del sito. La scoperta del genius loci permette all’artista di arricchire il proprio bagaglio culturale attraversando la Villa di Pollio Felice sul promontorio di Punta Capo a Sorrento, lungo la costa dell’Area Marina Protetta Punta Campanella.
ExtrArtis accompanied its selected artists to discover the artistic-cultural places in the experimental territory of the Artist Residence project. Therefore, ExtrArtis organized an excursion to the Bay of Ieranto in Massa Lubrense, as the protagonist site of “La Terra delle Sirene” – the second of the 9 site-specific interventions of “Spaziale presenta”, the preparatory phase for the realization of “Spaziale: Ognuno appartiene a tutti gli altri,” the project of the Fosbury Architecture collective for the Italian Pavilion at the 2023 Architecture Biennale, promoted by the DGCC of the Ministry of Culture. “The Land of the Sirens” is a project by Atelier BB (Alessandro Bava and Fabrizio Ballabio) and the Terraforma team activated at the Bay of Ieranto experimental site.

ExtrArtis aims to enhance the cultural and educational journey of the selected artists through a careful exploration of the landscapes that in the past represented sites on the nineteenth-century Grand Tour. Mount San Costanzo, part of protected areas and bordering UNESCO World Heritage Sites holds values and impressions to be transferred into the artistic production of Enea Toldo and Marta Luna Valpiano.
ExtrArtis si propone di valorizzare il percorso culturale e formativo degli artisti selezionati attraverso un’attenta esplorazione dei paesaggi che in passato rappresentavano luoghi del Grand Tour ottocentesco. Il Monte San Costanzo, inserito in aree protette e confinante con il Patrimonio Mondiale dell’UNESCO, racchiude valori e suggestioni da trasferire nella produzione artistica di Enea Toldo e Marta Luna Valpiano.

The third international exhibition of ExtrArtis took place at Palazzo Gravina, the historical seat of the Department of Architecture (DiARC) of the University of Naples Federico II. Considering ExtrArtis a best practice of Artist Residencies, the project had the opportunity to exhibit the outcomes of its third edition during the event “PLAY_ACT Art for communities in transition: care pact for cities. Artist Residencies for the recovery of built environment’.
The large turnout and the prestige of the hosting institution allowed the selected artists Enea Toldo, Marta Luna Valpiano, Federica Zianni, Antonio Barbieri, and Mattia Consonni to aim for a public exhibition of transnational importance. The event was curated by Professor Giovanni Menna, who wisely selected those works that best represent the ExtrArtis project’s incisiveness in regenerating the built environment through contemporary art.
Si è svolta a Palazzo Gravina, sede storica del Dipartimento di Architettura (DiARC) dell’Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, la terza mostra internazionale di ExtrArtis. Considerando ExtrArtis una best practice di residenze d’artista, il progetto ha avuto l’opportunità di esporre i risultati della sua terza edizione durante l’evento “PLAY_ACT Arte per comunità in transizione: patto di cura per le città. Residenze d’artista per il recupero dell’ambiente costruito”.
La grande affluenza e il prestigio dell’istituzione ospitante hanno permesso agli artisti selezionati Enea Toldo, Marta Luna Valpiano, Federica Zianni, Antonio Barbieri e Mattia Consonni di puntare ad una mostra pubblica di rilevanza transnazionale. L’evento è stato curato dal Professor Giovanni Menna, che ha sapientemente selezionato le opere che meglio rappresentano l’incisività del progetto ExtrArtis nel rigenerare l’ambiente costruito attraverso l’arte contemporanea.
ExtrArtis inaugurates a group exhibition, entitled “Arts and Cultural Heritage”, in Sorrento, in the historic residence hosting the project. The event, curated by Francesca Ciampa, Maria Elena Vona and Maria Rita Pinto. By selecting the most significant works from previous editions, the exhibition showcases the best works realised by the artists for the ExtrArtis project. The talent of combining such complex and diverse artistic mediums and techniques establishes an open, multidirectional, and forward-looking dialogue. The inspiration towards the genius loci is what accumulates artists posing them in unison. Luca Arboccò, Francesco Casati, Mattia Consonni, Emanuela Giacco, Robert Hromec, Alice Pilusi, and Marta Luna Valpiana transformed their art into bearers of values, highlighting new ways of cultural transition of our time.
ExtrArtis inaugura una mostra collettiva, dal titolo “Arti e Beni Culturali”, a Sorrento, nella dimora storica che ospita il progetto. L’evento, a cura di Francesca Ciampa, Maria Elena Vona e Maria Rita Pinto. Selezionando le opere più significative delle edizioni precedenti, la mostra mette in mostra i migliori lavori realizzati dagli artisti per il progetto ExtrArtis. Il talento nel combinare mezzi e tecniche artistiche così complesse e diverse stabilisce un dialogo aperto, multidirezionale e lungimirante. L’ispirazione verso il genius loci è ciò che accumula gli artisti che li pongono all’unisono. Luca Arboccò, Francesco Casati, Mattia Consonni, Emanuela Giacco, Robert Hromec, Alice Pilusi e Marta Luna Valpiana hanno trasformato la loro arte in portatrice di valori, evidenziando nuove modalità di transizione culturale del nostro tempo.
