ExtrArtis organizza una serie di proiezioni didattiche per gli artisti selezionati. Ciò consente, da un lato, di arricchire il bagaglio culturale dell’artista rafforzandone la formazione accademica e professionale; dall’altro scoprire il genius loci e, così, ispirarsi con consapevolezza al significato e alla storia di questo luogo.
ExtrArtis organizes a series of educational screenings for its selected artists. This allows, on the one hand, to increase the cultural background of the artist by strengthening his or her academic and professional education; on the other hand, to discover the genius loci and, thus, to be inspired by the meaning and history of this place with awareness.
Durante la residenza d’artista ExtrArtis, gli artisti selezionati hanno esplorato il loro processo creativo insieme alla nuova generazione di studenti. Lo studio-visita rappresenta uno spazio artistico vitale dove il dialogo tra l’artista e gli studenti valorizza l’esperienza locale e i suoi valori. Gli artisti sono stati protagonisti e divulgatori della propria conoscenza e ricerca artistica, presentando agli studenti del Liceo Artistico F. Grandi di Sorrento le fasi di esplorazione del contesto, elaborazione e realizzazione dell’opera che hanno attraversato durante il periodo di residenza.
During the ExtrArtis artist residency, the selected artists explored their creative process together with the new generation of students. The studio-visit represents a viable artistic space where the dialogue between the artist and the students enhances the local experience and its values. The artists were protagonists and disseminators of their own knowledge and artistic research, presenting to the students of the F. Grandi High School of Art in Sorrento the stages of exploring the context, elaboration and realization of the work that they went through during the residency period.
ExtrArtis ha creato una performance artistica lasciando che i propri artisti scegliessero un colore capace di riconnetterli con la natura. L’omaggio a Brian Koberlein spinge la ricerca artistica di ExtrArtis e dei suoi artisti verso l’identificazione di un colore primordiale, un colore che sia espressione dell’anima e giunzione fisica tra l’essere umano e l’ambiente. Ogni artista ci ha regalato la magia della sua estensione nel paesaggio. Dopo la Danza di Henri Matisse, i ballerini di Capri-Revolution, ExtrArtis si fa portavoce dell’ibridazione tra natura e cultura, organizzando una performance immersa in un ambiente spaziale capace di cristallizzare il tempo. Il messaggio è rivelatore della forza creativa dell’arte che, associando diversi artisti, riesce a riportare gli esseri umani in pace con se stessi e con l’ambiente circostante.
Il tema della pace, più attuale che mai, si estende non solo ai conflitti globali ma anche ai moti dell’animo umano, rivelando la potenza trasversale dello strumento artistico.
ExtrArtis created a performance art by letting their artists choose a color capable of reconnecting them with nature. The homage to Brian Koberlein pushes the artistic research of ExtrArtis and its artists toward the identification of a primal color, a color that is an expression of the soul and a physical junction between human beings and the environment. Each artist has given us the magic of its extension into the landscape. After the Dance of Henri Matisse, the dancers of Capri-Revolution, ExtrArtis becomes a spokesman for the hybridization between nature and culture, organizing a performance immersed in a spatial environment capable of crystallizing time. The message is revealing of the creative force of art, which, by associating different artists, succeeds in bringing human beings at peace with themselves and their surroundings.
The theme of peace, more current than ever, extends not only to global conflicts but also to the movements of the human soul, revealing the transversal power of the artistic instrument.
Gli artisti ExtrArtis hanno realizzato numerose opere durante la residenza, scegliendo di condividere i diversi spazi laboratoriali garantiti dal progetto. Conoscenza, scambio e confronto sono segni di crescita professionale e umana per ciascuno dei protagonisti di questa edizione, potenziali occasioni di amicizia e collaborazione. ExtrArtis offre ai suoi artisti un campo di sperimentazione creativo e rilassato con l’obiettivo di assolvere sia alla propria funzione educativa che a quello di ricerca e sperimentazione di importanza strategica nell’arte contemporanea. ExtrArtis propone esperienze costruttive e allo stesso tempo divertenti per rendere l’esperienza della residenza un momento di crescita umana e professionale. Il principio di fondo è quello della collaborazione, perno per lo scambio di tecniche, visioni e produzioni artistiche diverse.
The ExtrArtis artists created many artworks during the residency, choosing to share the various laboratory spaces guaranteed by the project. Knowledge, exchange and comparison are signs of professional and human growth for each of the protagonists of this edition, potential opportunities for friendship and collaboration. ExtrArtis offers its artists a creative and relaxed field of experimentation with the aim of fulfilling both its educational function and the field of research and experimentation of strategic importance in contemporary art. ExtrArtis offers constructive and at the same time amusing experiences to make the residency experience a moment of human and professional growth. The underlying principle is that of collaboration, a pivot for the exchange of different techniques, visions and artistic productions.
ExtrArtis crea un dialogo tra artigiani locali, maestri ebanisti dell’intarsio (candidati a patrimonio UNESCO) e artisti contemporanei. ExtrArtis è un progetto di Residenza d’Artista basato sull’impegno in condizioni di creatività al fine di stimolare la capacità di custodire il patrimonio, offrendo forme rinnovate di produzione culturale, legate alla condivisione e alla cooperazione. ExtrArtis organizza laboratori creativi di intarsio per artisti selezionati come strategia innovativa per la tutela del capitale immateriale e la salvaguardia delle radici e dei valori della comunità. Il capitale immateriale ha una capacità formativa che contribuisce a favorire processi di costruzione di comunità, sia connettendo e moltiplicando i legami di una società frammentata, sia tutelando la memoria collettiva e la coesione con il sistema insediativo.
ExtrArtis creates a dialogue between local artisans, master cabinetmakers of marquetry (a candidate for UNESCO heritage status) and contemporary artists. ExtrArtis is an Artist Residency project based on engaging in conditions of creativity in order to stimulate the ability to cherish heritage, offering renewed forms of cultural production, linked to sharing and cooperation. ExtrArtis organizes creative inlay workshops for selected artists as an innovative strategy for protecting intangible capital and safeguarding community roots and values. Intangible capital has a formative capacity that helps foster processes that build community, both by connecting and multiplying the bonds of a fragmented society and by protecting collective memory and cohesion with the settlement system.
La seconda mostra ExtrArtis, visitabile fino al 28 febbraio 2023 a Sorrento, restituisce gli esiti della seconda edizione della sperimentazione attraverso la mostra collettiva dei sei artisti selezionati. L’affluenza all’inaugurazione, oltre 300 presenze, dimostra come ExtrArtis segni un cambio di paradigma nel suo impegno nel diffondere e sperimentare sia i valori sedimentati sia le potenzialità dell’arte contemporanea nei luoghi in divenire.
The second ExtrArtis exhibition, open until Feb. 28, 2023 in Sorrento, returns the outcomes of the second edition of experimentation through the group exhibition of the six selected artists. The turnout of the inauguration, over 300 attendees, shows how ExtrArtis marks a paradigm shift in its commitment to disseminate and esperimere both sedimented values and the potential of contemporary art in places in the making.
